About Us

SOS Children’s Villages is a child focused, non-governmental organization providing care and support to children who have lost parental care, or at risk of losing parental care of their biological families. SOS Children’s Villages in Tanzania is a member of SOS Children’s Villages International, the largest non-governmental organization for children across the world. In Tanzania, there are four (04) Children Villages under the SOS family care program in Zanzibar (Unguja), Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Mwanza. We also operate in seven locations: Pemba, Unguja, Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Mwanza, Iringa and Mufindi. Currently, both our villages and community programs take care over 7450 children, with the Board Chairperson being Mr. Haruna Masebu.

By 2022, SOS Children’s Villages in Tanzania and Zanzibar had reached 854,209 beneficiaries, of which 164,005 were direct beneficiaries and 690,204 were indirect beneficiaries. Among the direct beneficiaries, 123,004 were children (49,202 boys and 73,802 girls) and 41,001 were adults (12,300 men and 28,701 women), and among the indirect beneficiaries, 586,673 were children (234,669 boys and 352,004 girls) and 103,531 were adults (20,706 men 82,825 women) respectively.
